This is my fourth set of these lights. I use them indoors to start all my seedings in a pop up greenhouse. The controller can be a bit hard to use, but I still find it easier to use the controller versus buying a third party timer. The controller could use one more button, as the selection for which hour setting is a bit confusing with a red & orange light that look very similar. These lights are BRIGHT but make sure to get them as close to your plants as possible so your plants don't get leggy. I had 3 sets in my greenhouse this year and really needed a forth. I wish these threw off a bit more heat but I'm also glad they don't, because they'd easily overheat the greenhouse.Liked everythingI've had this light for 2 years now and I'm finally replacing it with a better grow light.Here are my experiences with it from the past two years.1) Light:The light is not bright enough for succulents. I've kept mine about 1-2 inches under the light at the brightest setting and they were still rather etiolated after 2 years and no signs of sun stress. Better than nothing, but not great. Might be suitable for low light plants and got me by.2) Programming:There are four brightness settings, and a timer setting to keep the light running for 12hrs, 6hrs, and 3hrs from the time the light is turned on. I found this really limiting because if I needed to turn off the light in the middle of the day, I'd have to remember to manually set up the light again in the morning. If I forget or am unable to set up the light they next morning, there's nothing I can do. The light doesn't work plugged into a separate timer outlet either. Once it clicks off, the device is turned off and will reset the programming.3) Adhesive:The adhesive it comes with is insanely sticky so don't use it if you're planning on removing it at some point. I finally pulled all the lights off my shelf and I had to use oil and a razor to pry the lights off the shelf. Then more oil and razor blading to get the adhesive off the lights. Took me about 5+ hours to get it all off!4) Bugs:A few months ago I started noticing eggs on the INSIDE of the light. There are little holes on the end of each light where the wire runs through the plastic casing and I guess that's how the bugs got in. Because the adhesive is atrocious, there wasn't much I could do to remove the eggs until I finally dismantled the entire setup. Once it was down, luckily the eggs just shook out of the light (eggs were dry). Overall, this seemed to be a rare/situational problem that I had and not a fault of the product.So I would say for the price of the product, you get what you pay for, but generally speaking, I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't buy it again.Holy user error I am embarrassed. I returned for replacement the first set of lights. 1 day later the replacement came. I tested every light and each plug as soon as I opened the box, before I did anything. I only removed the power cords, didn't touch the lights themselves. Everything worked. THEN I BEGAN INSTALLATION and when I went to check how the first 2 looked up on my shelves, I couldn't get 1 of the plugs on the timer/power adapter to work, again! Agh! I thought it was another one with an issue! Then I noticed the middle button, between the power/dimmer and the timer buttons....it alternates which plug has power-changing which light strands are on. FACE PALM. I must've pushed it by accident, turning off one of the plugs!!2nd thing I noticed is the tape only needs to be applied at the ends, if you put it the length of the light strand it is flush with the plastic cap on each end and idk how much is actually going to make contact with the surface you are attaching it to. I taped 1 this way, and the next 3 I will only tape the ends. I will update if any fall down and which is better.These lights work great as a supplement for sunshine as the days get shorter. My plants have responded noticeably to the new lights and it brought my California poppy back from the brink of death. The adhesive included works excellently - it is easy to place and sticks super well. I made a mistake when placing one of the lights and was able to move it without any dilution to the sticking power. The lights stick better than the duct tape I used for cable management! There are ample cables included to accommodate your arrangement. The timer function works flawlessly. My only recommendation would be that the kit include some tabs or adhesive for better cable management but overall this is still a great purchase.I have a lot of plants and succulents that need to come in every year. This year, we planned ahead and my husband made some nice shelving. After paint, we set up the lights. The lighting is very even across all of my plants, and gives them exactly what they need. Because of the size of the shelves, the timer function is amazing so I don't have to climb all over trying to turn them on. The configurability of these lights is also pretty great. There are a few ways you can connect all of the lights. They give you plenty of plugs and wiring to be able to plug them in and set them up in ways that will work your your shelving situation. They are a little pricey, but it is worth it. Overall, I bought 4 packages of lights for all of my plants. They are easy on the eyes as well! I do a lot of plant videos on TikTok, and I've talked about these lights a few times. My favorite so far!!I got these lights to go on the bottom of a hand-made ladder plant rack. They are very sleek and look very nice! They are not crazy bright so if you’re trying to supplement natural light your plants are already getting like me, then these are perfect. If you’re trying to grow veggies and flower in the deep winter, maybe buy a less compact and more powerful grow light. For my purposes they compliment the look of my plant rack and allow my plants to get plenty of light. I love the look of my plants under them too, very natural looking light for most of my tropical plants.
